Community Engagement Session: Open House with RockTech Lithium
October 30th @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Rock Tech Lithium’s mission is to produce lithium chemicals required for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The Red Rock Converter Project is an integral part of that story, transforming spodumene from Ontario mines into high-purity lithium hydroxide.
Red Rock Converter Project
The proposed Project is to be located in Red Rock, Ontario at the former Norampac paper mill site. The converter is a chemical plant which transforms raw lithium materials (i.e., spodumene) into high purity compounds (lithium hydroxide, lithium carbonate). The main process steps for the converter include crushing, roasting (kiln), chemical conversion, and purification. The chemicals that will be used in process include sulphuric acid, sodium hydroxide, and lime. The plant will follow comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry standards to protect the workers and the environment. This will include, but not limited to, safe chemical handling and containment, spill prevention planning, dust control, emissions management, residue reuse, and waste disposal.
Rock Tech Lithium would like to hear your thoughts about the Project and what environmental considerations are important to you so that they may be considered in the Project plans.
