(Red Rock, ON – August 27, 2024)
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held today, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 to celebrate the grand opening of the new Red Rock Water Pollution Control Plant.
Mayor Darquise Robinson will be joined by the Lise Vaugeois, Member of Provincial Parliament for Thunder Bay – Superior North, and Kevin Holland, Member of Provincial Parliament for Thunder Bay – Atikokan, Associate Minister of Forestry and Forest Products.
All representatives will be given the opportunity to speak at the event, hosted by Mayor Robinson and the Township of Red Rock. Light refreshments to follow at the Marina Interpretive Centre at the Red Rock Waterfront.
Located at 3 Baker Road, the Water Pollution Control Plant is currently in operation and will continue to be a great asset to the Township in providing a clean and safe community while ensuring the health of our local waterways.
Funding for the project was secured through the New Building Canada Fund – National Regional Projects under the Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component. A federal contribution of $7,558,775.27 and a provincial contribution of $17,143,415 made this essential facility possible for the community.
In addition to the new water pollution control plant, the project included upgrades to two lift stations and to the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system in the water treatment plant, allowing the two facilities to have compatible monitoring and communication systems.
