School Board Elections
Municipal elections in Ontario are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. The most recent municipal election was held on October 22, 2018. Under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the four-year term of office for the current council and school board trustees began on December 1, 2018 and ends on November 14, 2022. The next municipal election was held on Monday, October 24, 2022.

Every candidate who has filed a nomination paper with the Township of Red Rock to participate in the Municipal and School Board Elections is required to file a
financial statement with the Clerk after each election. These statements outline all income and expenses related to the candidate’s campaign.
The completed financial statement must be submitted to the Clerk by 2:00 p.m. on the last Friday in March
(March 31, 2023).
All financial statements are public documents. The Clerk must retain these statements until the new Council
takes office after the 2026 scheduled election. These documents may be inspected in person during regular office hours.
Any person may make extracts from the documents and is entitled to copies. However, this information may only be used

Use of Corporate Resources for Elections
A person is entitled to be an elector in a local municipal election if, on voting day, they meet all of the following criteria:
- Reside in the local municipality, or are the owner or tenant of land in the municipality, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
- Are a Canadian citizen;
- Are at least 18 years old; and
- Are not prohibited from voting under subsection (3) or otherwise by law. (2002, c. 17, Sched. D, s. 5 (2); 2005, c. 5, s. 46 (1))

Keeping your information current helps ensure that municipal Voters’ Lists are accurate and up-to-date in preparation for municipal and school board elections.
Please ensure that you are on the Voters’ List well in advance of October 24, 2022.
- Monday, May 2, 2022: First day to file a nomination for Mayor, Councillor, or School Board Trustee.
- Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. CST: Deadline for candidates to file a nomination paper, withdraw a nomination, or change office.
- Monday, August 22, 2022: Last day for the Clerk’s Office to certify Nomination Papers.
- Wednesday, October 19, 2022: Advanced Polls.
- Monday, October 24, 2022: Municipal and School Board Election Day.
