Townsite residential garbage is collected once per week, typically on Wednesdays, and Rural & Commercial Garbage is collected on Thursdays.

• Residential garbage pickup is limited to 3 cans or 6 bags per household, with a 50 lb weight limit. All garbage must be properly bagged.
• Spring Clean Up is designated to one week in May each calendar year — keep an eye on the Township Event Calendar or contact the Municipal Office for details.

Residential Recycling

A new residential Blue Box recycling program is coming to the Township of Red Rock as part of Ontario’s enhanced recycling system. The program is managed by Circular Materials, with Emterra Environmental providing residential recycling collection services.

Each household will receive four (4) 80-litre blue recycling bins. Residents will not need to separate recycling by material — accepted plastic, cardboard, paper, glass, metal cans and other recyclable materials can be placed together in the blue bins for collection.

Recycling will be collected every second week on Wednesdays and Thursdays, following the Township’s existing garbage collection schedule. The first recycling collection is scheduled for November 18 & 19, 2026.

Blue recycling bins will be delivered directly to households over the coming weeks. Additional information about accepted materials, how to prepare recyclables and where to place bins for collection will be provided as the program rolls out.

Landfill Information

Effective January 1, 2026, the Red Rock Landfill will no longer accept cash for loads dumped at the Landfill.

A punch card system will be used for landfill payments. Punch cards are available in $50 and $100 increments and can be purchased at the Municipal Office, and seasonally at the Recreation Centre & Marina Building.

Reminder: You may be asked for ID when entering the Landfill to confirm your resident/non-resident status. Please have your ID ready upon entering.

The Red Rock Landfill is located off the right-hand side of Highway 11/17, heading westbound towards Thunder Bay. The Landfill is located at Fire #496 on Dump Road.
